About João Lenhari

João Lenhari is a trumpet player, composer, arranger, and educator. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Trumpet from UNICAMP (BR), a Second Cycle Diploma in Popular Music from FACCAMP (BR), a Master's degree in Studies and Instrumental Performance from UNICAMP and a Doctorate in Jazz Performance at the University of Montreal (Canada).

In Brazil, he has been actively involved as an arranger, composer, and trumpeter with renowned groups such as Banda Urbana (as musical director), Orquestra Jabaquara, Banda Jazzco, Nelson Ayres Big Band, We-Jam Big Band, Soundscape Big Band, Banda Mantiqueira, Sandália de Prata, Leticia Persiles, Tais Reganeli, among other artists and TV and movies soundtracks. He is also a member of the band of the legendary Brazilian singer Roberto Carlos.

He is the first Doctor in Jazz Performance from the University of Montreal and had the pleasure and honor of being guided by the Canadian legend Ron Di Lauro. With the retirement of Mr. Di Lauro, he took over the role of the new Musical Director of the University of Montreal Big Band in the fall session of 2023

Live & Studio

With extensive freelancing in São Paulo, João Lenhari has worked on recordings, soundtracks, and live performances worldwide. Notable works include contributions to films like "Chacrinha, o Velho Guerreiro," "O Ano Que Meus Pais Saíram de Férias," and TV series "Cidade dos Homens" and "Godspy."

He composed the music for the short film “Inevitable” and was a two-time finalist for the Professionals of Music Award as best arranger. Furthermore, he continues to accompany Roberto Carlos around the world, performing in renowned venues such as Radio City Music Hall and Massey Hall.

In Montreal, João Lenhari had the pleasure to share the stage with some important bands and artists of the musical scene, such as: ONJ, C’est Si Bon, Yves Tourgeon Big Band, Alberto El Canario, Frankie Morales, Patrice Luneau Big Band, Leo Bae Big Band, Julian Gutierrez Project, Diogo Ramos, Michael Srey Swing Legacy Band, Chico Pinheiro, Manoel Vieira, John Roney, Ron Di Lauro, Café Fuerte Project, Jean-Pierre Zanella, among others.

How you can book the lessons

First of all, it is important to note that as an educator, João Lenhari’s highlights include five years at the Conservatório de Tatuí (the most prestigious conservatory in Latin America), conducting masterclasses for several years at the Jazz Trumpet Festival Brazil and throughout the country. More recently, he completed a one-week residency coaching a big band at UNICAMP. Additionally, he teaches jazz trumpet at the University of Montreal. Furthermore, João offers both online and in-person lessons.

ONLINE LESSONS:

If you have a computer, tablet, or cell phone with internet access, you can have an online lesson with João. All you need to do is book a lesson by contacting him through the contact box. The rate for online lessons is CA$50.00 for a 45-minute lesson, but you should contact him to set a time range and frequency for more specific rates. Generally, for your first online lesson, it is recommended to book a minimum of 1 hour and 30 minutes. Payment can be made via PayPal.

PRIVATE IN-PERSON LESSONS:

The cost is CA$100 per hour, but if you are a regular student, the rate is CA$75.00 for a one-hour lesson.
